Snow lake has translucent depths and is tucked underneath the uppermost 2,000 feet of the Chair Peak. Aptly called snowlake because the snow here melts into the lake until July!!!!
Starting the hike with a gradual climb into the thick forests ...
... and then some lush green temperate rain-forests?
Not long before the trail gets exponentially more rugged and steep - however, you can also see Chair Peak standing tall and rising over the far side of the valley.
Suuuuppper stony along with being a pain in the ass and legs - imagining this area in snow gives me chills!
Okay, that's some high quality kitchen grade granite behind me.
First glimpse of the lake down below and you can also see into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness!
400-foot drop in elevation and you can see whole of the lake from here - but we're not stopping just yet. We will go to the lake!!
Ugh. No drones. Can't forget almost getting a class-b misdemeanor :(
Trying to act all so cool in the fresh melt water freezing every ounce of my blood!
Haven't swam in much colder waters ever!!
Ending with the panoramic views of the crystal clear waters of the lake crowned by polished rock rise from the distant shorepeaks!
