Exactly a week from graduation and the tempo to travel at the highest, I just came to know about Georgia’s "Little Grand Canyon" - how could we have missed that? Practically my last trip in Georgia (as a student ;))

Providence Canyon. MemExp Blog. Rohan Goel Providence Canyon’s colorful, sculpted walls carve through a sandy, stream-filled landscape in the southwest corner of the state! It’s an excellent spot for photography and exploration in an ever-evolving landscape of loose sandstone and trickling water.

So here we start the trek with prayers to Mata ji!

Providence Canyon. MemExp Blog. Rohan Goel As a matter of fact these canyons are not 100 percent natural. Water carved them in the early 1800s, as a result of poor farming practices. The exposed sandstone dates to nearly 70 million years ago, layered in colorful deposits of minerals.

Providence Canyon. MemExp Blog. Rohan Goel Fragile layers of sandstone form the walls of these canyons. There are total nine canyons numbered 1-9 and this was my favorite and most grand!

Providence Canyon. MemExp Blog. Rohan Goel In the hike, we firstly see the canyons from the bottom, which over several centuries have been eroded grain by grain

Providence Canyon. MemExp Blog. Rohan Goel These impressive canyons were created not by the action of a river over millions of years but by rainwater runoff from farm fields in less than a century. Interestingly, Providence Canyon continues to erode.

Given the setting, we also recorded a dance video for @JayatiChhabra
